Have the students make a house with Popsicle sticks. To include the "all about me" theme, have them draw their family inside the house.

B is for Box
Draw out a box on brown construction paper and cut out two. Tape just the bottom so the box can be "opened." Then print out a pictures of other words that start with B. I used "boy, banana, boat, ball, bat."
Spelling first names
I found a cool website that makes custom names in different fonts. It was a great way to practice first name handwriting. Here is the link: http://www.fontspace.com/category/bubbles
Community Helpers: Mailman
Cut out the shape of a mailbox on two construction papers then staple them together so the kids can actually stick letters inside. Since I am teaching them first names, I used the "envelopes" as perfect opportunities to write their names, and the name of someone they want to send the letter to. You can get the picture of the envelope from this site: http://cdn.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/envelope3.jpg
A is for Airplane
Is there any kid that doesn't enjoy paper airplanes? What I added to a typical paper airplane was a pilot in the center. It works really well for the other theme of the month which is community helpers; it was a great way to teach them who a pilot is.

Rainbow Tracing
Who says tracing can't be fun? I've always seen tracing as one of those necessary but really boring things that students must do. A great way to get students to trace is through rainbow tracing. Tell them to trace with one color, then another on top of it. Keep going until it looks beautiful like a rainbow. I used it for learning the sight word "the" and for writing the letter A.

Sight Word: the
I call the sight word the as one of those "boring" words that the kids have to learn. So I usually teach it by using it in a sentence with words that they already know. I wrote a sentence on the board, and the kids had to work together as a team to form the sentence with foam letters (if you don't have foam letters, printed out laminated letters will also work).
The most important part of the activity was to use a similar sentence on their worksheet to help them remember.

Letter A Craft- Ants
A fun and exciting (for the kids) way to learn about letter A. Draw out the letter A and cut it out on construction paper. Find a clip art of an apple and clip arts of ants. Cut them out and have the students glue them on the letter A. I made them act as if the ants were going after the apple to make them more excited. Here is how the final project should look like:

New Month: New Themes!
My latest posts were more for ideas but I know they weren't really helpful for printouts. It is because I just started this blog and was not prepared for keeping old templates. Now that a new month is starting, I will keep this blog in mind as I make it easier for you to use these ideas. These are my themes for September:
All About Me
Community Helpers
Sight Words: { I, the, me, too, like }
Beginning Sounds: A, B, C, D
Counting to 10
Should be a fun month! :D

Animals Theme:
I ended my animals theme month with this craft. Each child got to choose which animal face mask they wanted, and I cut them out on card stock paper. I got the face masks from this website: http://www.firstpalette.com/Craft_themes/Animals/animalmasks/animalmask.html

Outer space Theme:
This is another craft that the children absolutely loved. Just find a rocket ship clipart from google image and print two of them. Open one of them up in paint and paste the child's picture where the door would be. Print it out. Print out the same rocket ship but without the child's picture and cut the door open except for the left side. Then glue the other rocket ship directly on top of the one with the child's picture on it.
